Life's A Pitch design decisions

The following design decisions are based off the issues raised when we went around the different groups to find out what they don't like about the current studio.

A lot of people said that the plugs in the studio were inconveniently placed in the studio and this is problematic as people need to charge their macs throughout the day. One way around this is to have floor plugs by each desk for easy access to a power source.

Another issue  that was discovered was that the lighting was a bit dim and discoloured. To overcome this the design would include contemporary, clean looking natural lighting that would appear in strips over the desks. This wouldn't only provide clear and bright lighting for the studio but also once the natural light from the windows had gone it would further encourage the idea of 'bringing the outside in' by recreating natural lighting.

Another issue was the fact that there isn't enough collaborative space within the studio and as the seating arrangement needs to be a certain way to fit enough seats comfortably into the studio, we have decided to include the use of 'collaborative areas' with the likes of large pin boards. This would also compliment the white walls and the green colour of the plants.

The chairs below were selected from the IKEA website and were chose for two reasons. Firstly many said that the high stools were uncomfortable and unnecessary and secondly it allows easier access to the floor plug sockets. We decided to have two types of chair- the first (on the left) would be used for the majority of the seating and then the chair on the right will be used for a more comfortable, collaborative area. This is important for a creative studio as it will encourage relaxation and give people a break from the 'work environment' which will encourage productivity.

Lots of windows will be used within the studio to provide the plants with enough light to remain alive and will also promote a positive and more natural environment to work in.
